Laine Evans '21 Recruiting Profile

    I was completely submerged into the world of competitive volleyball when I was just 9 years old. Without any prior knowledge, I joined an elite volleyball club and began my long journey to where I am now. Little did I know that I would rarely play my first year because I was deemed "not good enough," and that I would be put on my own court during beach volleyball season that summer because I was messing up the drills. But little did I know, that those experiences would push me harder than I ever thought I could push myself. Those grueling experiences would lead me to be a starter on my JO team at the same elite club, and would get me put on the only 12's team my club was sending to nationals. They would get me named MVP by my teammates and they would get me named MVP by every single one of the team coaches we played that year. They propelled me into my spot as captain on my middle school team, and ensured my spot on the 1st and 2nd highest teams at my club for 6 years straight. That is why I believe skill and talent can get you off the ground, but hard work and  motivation can make you soar.
