Personal Statement
I believe that keeping your head in the game is one of the greatest attributes someone can have to make a winning team. Staying positive regardless of the score helps to generate a positive vibe to keep mistakes to a minimum. Praising the team when they are doing well and supporting them through their mistakes provides a great foundation for any team. My goal is to be on a team where everyone shows up mentally and physically for not only games but for practices as well. Everyone is there to push themselves and each other to win and have fun while doing it.
As a retired military child, I traveled with my parents to several bases. I was fortunate enough to play sports at a young age and this helped me initiate and form lasting friendships. In my past, I've played soccer, was a cheerleader, a softball player, a gymnast, competed in track for relay races and pole vaulting and have played volleyball since 5th grade. As a cheerleader, I traveled around the island of Okinawa and performed for many events to include the Army/Navy football game. Performing for crowds has been scary at times, but it has helped me build confidence for competing today. As a competitive gymnast, I took 4th place at State, the only year I was on a sanctioned team. This competition has helped me learn the value of teamwork, commitment, sacrifice and drive. I believe I not only have the talent to compete for a collegiate team, but the character, work ethic and leadership skills to make an impact on a program.
