Personal Statement
Hi my name is Madilyn Schultz and I am currently playing for my High School volleyball team the Lena-Winslow Panthers. I have been playing varsity since my freshman year starting as an outside hitter and playing all six rotations.
I would describe myself as positive, hardworking and very discipline driven. I work hard in practice everyday not only pushing myself to compete to be the best I can be but also pushing my teammates to better themselves every day in practice. Volleyball has always had a huge impact on my life. This sport is my passion and I absolutely love going to practice everyday and seeing all my hard work pay off.
I also play basketball and softball. I have started varsity in both softball and basketball since I was a freshman. I can play anywhere you need me to play in softball and I am a point guard in basketball. I have played club volleyball since fifth grade and I have played club softball ever since I was twelve. Last year we were 2018 regional softball champs! I was awarded 1st team all-conference sophomore year in softball and volleyball. I was awarded all-conference honorable mention my freshman year in basketball and all-conference 2nd team in basketball my sophomore year. I was also awarded all tournament team at Latin, Oregon and Mt. Pulaski for volleyball.
I would like to receive a bachelors degree in a health related field then complete my (DPT) docotor of physical therapy degree program. I would also like to compete at a university where I can meet both of my goals athletically and academically. I believe that setting goals or standards for yourself and pushing yourself to reach those goals will get me where I need to be both athletically and academically in the future. I work as hard as I can whether it’s in school or at practice every single day to make myself a better overall person. I also participate in student council and student leadership at my school.
My coaches would tell you that I’m very enerjetic, supportive, driven, hardworking and a positive leader. I try and pick my teammates up if something isn’t going their way during a game by saying “better the next ball.” I think that being an overall positive leader helps your team out a lot. I also feel that it helps your team accomplish your goals better. I try and have the right mindset everyday waking up because I think it helps you focus better throughout the day. I think it also helps you accomplish your goals and standards for not only your yourself but your teammates.
I am interested in universities throughout the United States but I would like to be in the Midwest region preferably. Thank you for looking at my profile and I can’t wait to play at the collegiate level!
