Personal Statement
An experience that has forced me to grow the most would definitely be participating in the North Carolina Outward Bound trip this past summer. I had never experienced anything like the extraneous days of backpacking and camping. Ultimately I realized that the trip wasn't something I necessarily enjoyed, but I learned many valuable lessons from it. I was able to step outside of my comfort zone and try something I had never done before, I made lasting friendships with people all over the country, and I learned how to adapt to new circumstances and become self sufficient in them. Looking back, the trip may not have been the most comfortable or enjoyable memory in my life, but I'm grateful that I came out a better person because of it. I am able to carry over the insight I gained from that trip into athletics, and it has resulted in me being more focused on my ambitions and a better leader overall. I have been constantly working hard for over four years, whether it is in the weight room, in the classroom, or on the court. I have a passion for setting new goals for myself and seeing that hard work pay off. I would love to have the opportunity to play volleyball at the next level for the more intense competition, formation of new connections and memories, and discipline it will teach me, all while forging my future career path in life.
