Personal Statement
My name is Taryn Flood and I am DS/Outside for the Class of 2023. I go to Carl Sandburg High School in Orland Park. I have played on Attack Volleyball Club for the past 7 years and I love walking into that gym more and more every year. Every season my goals are to be able to be a leader to my teammates on the court while also being able to help and be there for them off the court.
I have been trained to play every position but I am very passionate about playing DS/Outside because it helps me feel very in control and confident during games. I feel my teammates and coaches would describe me as a very passionate player, who always wants to be on the court. I love helping my teammates when they need me or ask for help with things such as form, plays, positions or advice. My goal is to always bring positive and supportive energy to my team no matter what the scoreboard reads.
Since I first started playing this game 8 years ago I knew that I would always be in love with it. One of my biggest dreams has always been to play volleyball in college after being able to play all four years at my high school. I'm always eager to learn more on how I can improve. I feel that I am a very solid player that is capable of becoming a good fit to play at the college level. I’m most motivated when people underestimate me because it has always taught me to work even harder to be the type of player and person that I want to be. I will use that motivation and drive that I have in me to push myself to achieve my goal of being a college volleyball player and pursue a quality education. No matter what path I take in regards to my career, I always want volleyball to be a part of my life.
