Morgan Dreyer '13 Recruiting Profile

My name is Morgan Dreyer, and I am currently a senior in the class of 2013 at Batesville High School. My goal is to pursue a top-notch college education while also continuing my volleyball career. My hope is that my academic and athletic accomplishments can financially help make that happen. I plan to major in engineering and math and have heavily concentrated on those areas in the BHS Honors Program, with no grade in those subjects lower than a high A. Athletically, I am a two-sport letterwinner at BHS, in volleyball and softball, but my passion is of course volleyball. The 2011 season was another success for the Lady Bulldogs as we won our 7th straight Sectional Championship and our 11th straight EIAC Conference Championship. As the captain and setter of our team, (we ran a 5-1) I was given the responsibility of calling our offensive plays and "directing traffic" as we sometimes had four sophomores on the floor at one time, a young team compared to most. One of my biggest strengths is my knowledge of the game. I've been around volleyball for as long as I can remember, watching my mom play before I could barely walk and playing since I was in 5th grade. I've also been commended often for my composure on the court because I'm a person who doesn't get rattled easily. And I'm also willing to put in the extra time. I could often be found in the gym working with my mom long after practice ended. Physically, at 5' 9'' I'm above average in height for most setters, and my left-handed dominance allows me to be an attacking force when I'm in the front row. I'm working hard with my club coach to be more deceptive when I do attack a ball rather than set it. My biggest honor so far was being selected as "Player of the Week" in the state of Indian by AVBCA for the week of October 17th. My 2011 season stats were tops in assists and serving; according to Max-Preps, I finished 3rd in the state for 3A schools and 14th for all classes, while I led the state in serving attempts and finished the season with 95% serving accuracy. I was also invited to the Indiana Junior All-Star Tryout this past November. One of my goals is to make the Indiana All-Star Team next year. Being invited to try-out was great, but next year I plan on being selected. In closing, I want to thank you for considering me for your volleyball program.
