Personal Statement

My goal is to use my academic and athletic abilities to earn a scholarship and be able to attend a top university.  The education I receive is as important to me as the athletic opportunity.  I am a 3 year starter for club where I play middle blocker and a 3 year starter for my high school where I play middle blocker/opposite.  I was fortunate to earn a starting position as a Freshman and my first varsity letter.  I pride myself in being smart on the court and in the classroom.  I am a two time scholar athlete.  This award is earned at my high school by maintaining at least a 3.0 GPA while playing in a minimum of one varsity sport.  I am a past member of the National Jr. Honor Society, an A and A/B honor roll student, I take AP honor courses and I currently hold a 3.68 GPA.  I never back down from a challenge and continually strive to make myself a better student, leader, athlete and member of my community.  I feel I have much to offer my future educational institution and teammates.  I posses leadership qualities, I am coach-able, and extremely positive.  I want to be part of winning multiple conference championships with the ultimate goal of winning a national championship.  I look forward to speaking with you regarding available opportunities.

Club Information

  • Seasons of Club Experience
  • 4 seasons
  • 2017 Ignite Elite IN (18U)
  • Our first tournament was the Winter Volleyball Championship qualifier held at McCormick Place in Illinois. We went 7-0 and took first in the Gold Division clinching a spot at Nationals in Dallas.
  • 2016 Epic United Elite (16U)
  • I feel like our 2016 Club team did not reach its full potential. We played hard and did well in our league, but we came up short in our tournaments. I'm looking forward to continue my work and learn from my mistakes so I can help make 2017 my best club season so far.
  • 2015 Epic United Elite (15 U )
  • I feel our 2014/2015 club season was a real success although we did not finish as high as we hoped in nationals. We had a lot of great games that attracted a lot of great universities to watch us play. This was only my second season in Club ball but I made big strides in my overall game. I can not wait for my sophomore high school season to begin!
  • 2014 Epic United Elite (14U)
  • First year trying out for club and was chosen for the highest travel team. Played Middle Blocker and qualified for AAU in Florida. Although we did not advance as far as we had hoped, it was a great learning experience.

  • 2015 USAV Youth Volleyball A3 National Training Program
  • 7/13/15 to 7/24/15
  • I received an invitation as a Middle Blocker to participate in the USAV Youth training program after trying out in Chicago. Unfortunately, due to prior volleyball commitments I was unable to attend.

Training

  • Bfit Gym
  • 1 year
  • Began training with a former Mr. Indiana to learn how to lift weights and eat properly. Through dedication combined with weight training and proper nutrition, I went from 21% body fat down to 14% and was able to maintain the loss of body fat and muscle growth.
  • Performance Training
  • 4 years
  • Currently train twice a week to increase vertical jump, lateral movement, foot speed, mobility, core strength and overall agility.
  • MB/OPP Private Lessons
  • 4 years
  • I work one on one with Coach Torres improving my footwork, vertical jump, blocking, overall swing, cutting the ball and volleyball I.Q. Coach Torres has many years of coaching experience and was a past member of Puerto Rico's Jr. National team in the mid 1980's. I feel his coaching has really helped me to become a much more well rounded player.
  • Sand volleyball with weighted vest
  • 2 years
  • Here I focus on increasing my vertical jump and athleticism by playing sand volleyball while wearing a 75# weighted vest.
