Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Salote Josephinemarie Husseini I am currently residing in Wiesbaden ,Germany. Well to start off I have been lived and spent most of my schooling in Germany. My family and I moved from Ft. Hucachua, Arizona to Mannheim , Germany in September of 2005 because my dad is in the military we had to move. I began School in Mannheim Elementary Kindergarten through fourth grade. These years where stayed in Mannheim I played mostly soccer for the Youth Services . I was introduced to volleyball from my mother and father who currently still play competitive. So when they would go to the gym and play I would bump and set back and forth with them.
When we moved to Wiesbaden in 2011 it was a whole new environment for me. Even though we where still in Germany and I know a lot of kids from my old school it just didn't feel right. But soon after a full year of feeling out of place my mom found a Germany club that I could play with, but the only thing is I had to try out because I was 13 and it was a U16 team. I was really nervous and at first the coach insisted I needed to play with the U13 team. Until he saw me serve I sealed the deal and from then on I have been playing for TG Naurod U16. I also play with the U18 and train with the Damen 3 Women team (Ages 20-UP).My German Club Coach is the one that has lead me down the path to setting. When I reached middle school I was more than over joyed because they had a competitive volleyball team that traveled. I played each year and have always been a setter and on the all star team.
I attend private lesson's with my Middle school coach and he works on agility and we us k-brands. In my spare time when I am not training I like to help out some of the new beginners . My mom always told me that coaching really shows how much patience and will you have. I didn't understand what she meant until I started helping out others myself. It's a real satisfying feeling . I literally have volleyball all day every day all year round. If its not me playing it my mom, or I am with my mom while she coaches. Sometimes its hard to balance volleyball and school work , but if you are determined it can be done. Really it can!
I have attended A.C.E VBC camps since I 5th grade and in 8th grade I attended the higher level camp. Man was that intense and for my first time at camp I landed the 3rd highest level Red&White. This year at camp I am definitely trying to aim for a higher level. All I can do is try my best.
