Abbey Griffin '20 Recruiting Profile

My biggest dream is to pursue my volleyball and academic career throughout college. I started playing volleyball at a very young age. I am a hard worker and I love being challenged. I am very determined to be the best that I can be in anything I do. I always go the extra mile to better myself and others. I always give 100% and I count on the same in return from my teammates. I am almost always the last one to leave my gym making sure I don't cheat myself or my teammates. 

My 2018 high school season went really well for my team and I. While playing all around as an outside I had 324 kills and 240 digs. I believe that playing all around allowed me to put forth my best abilities for my team. I am a varsity starter and have been since my freshman year. I have 3 varsity letters so far. I was 1st Team All Conference and 1st Team All District (class 3A). I am also Academic All Conference. I have 3 school records; attack attempts (856), kills (324), and kill efficiency 800-900 attempts (.183). I have came a long way since my freshman season and I am looking forward improving more and more each day.

This past summer I played on the Iowa High Performance Youth National team in the HP championships in Tulsa Oklahoma. I currently play for Central Iowa Select 16M out of Des Moines. I play mainly as a middle but get my time in on the outside/right side as well. 

Along with volleyball I also play softball and run track. I play second base in softball. I also enjoy playing outfield. My softball team place 2nd in state in 2017, and 4th in state in 2018. We tied for conference champions in 2017 and won the conference championship in 2018. I have 3 varsity letters so far in softball. I run hurdles along with high jumping and long jumping. I have 3 varsity letters so far in track as well. I am a conference champion in long jump and the shuttle hurdle relay. I am also the district champion in the 100 meter hurdles, I placed 22nd in state.
