Personal Statement
I am a competitive multi-sport athlete. I play high school and club volleyball. I have also been a varsity basketball starter since my freshmen year and have competed in track since I was a freshmen. I have earned all-conference honors in volleyball as a sophomore and as a junior, all-conference honors in basketball as a freshmen, sophomore, and junior, and was selected to the all-regional basketball team for southwest Iowa. I was also a member of two conference champion relay teams in the sprint medley and distance medley as a freshmen. This year (junior year), I qualified for State in the open 800m run and Distance Medley Relay, and finished in the top 20 in both events. Although I love all the sports that I compete in, my passion is volleyball. Going to college as an athlete has always been a dream of mine that I feel with hard-work and dedication, I can achieve. I have set my goals on being a physical therapist. I enjoy learning about the body as well as helping others, therefore I feel this would be a fantastic career choice for myself.
As an athlete, I work hard. Every practice I show up and give 110% each time. I have always been the kind of player who takes charge on and off of the court. This past season, I received the Leadership Award from my team. This accomplishment meant so much to me, as it allowed me to see that I was a leader from my team's perspective. I always show up to practice with a smile on my face, as sports are what I LOVE to do! I maintain an A average, with one of the highest GPA's in my class. I know that as an athlete, grades are equally as important as the talent showcased on the court.
