Hi, I'm Abby. I'm an Iowa farm girl who likes to raise show pigs and cattle, loves to dress up for formal dances, but pull my hair up in a ponytail, put on athletic shoes and I get competitive and work hard on and off the court! I'm a great leader, am not afraid to speak up, have a positive attitude and work ethic, I care about my teammates on and off the court, and feel that everyone working together for the good of the team is what makes an athlete succeed. I always put academics first, because I'm a student-athlete-you can’t be an athlete if you don’t have the grades. I always give 100% effort into everything that I do, and if I make mistakes, I learn from them. Life is about learning, it’s the attitude you take about learning that determines your success. I was in 7th grade when my mom was diagnosed with cancer at age 36-and she got cancer 3 times in 2 years! As the oldest child, I had to grow up fast and had a lot of responsibility. That life experience gave me the morals, values and beliefs I hold true to myself today. She taught me that you never give up no matter what the circumstances. If you get knocked down, you get back up and fight harder. My mom won her battle, and it taught me to keep working hard for what I want in life. After high school, I am interested in either the medical field or law school (my parents think I’m good at arguing so they say law school 😉). I’m a girl with big dreams, but am going to continue to work hard to make them come true!
