Personal Statement
I was a three sport athlete in the year of 2017, doing volleyball, basketball, and softball. The start of my junior year I decided I needed to focus on the sport I really loved most and narrow my high school sports. 2018 is when I decided to not go out for basketball and start focusing hard on my club volleyball team. I am always working hard and conditioning to help with my performance, by doing agility, being in and out of the weight room, etc.
I have been playing volleyball ever since I could start playing. When I was 8 years old I went out for our local Y.E.A. team, and passion for volleyball grew from there. I would do camps provided at my school to better my skills and prepare for high school ball. My sophomore year of volleyball I decided to go out for my club volleyball team. I wanted to expand my knowledge of volleyball and be able to help out my high school team with skills I've learned from another source. I participated in an Under Armour volleyball factory camp, and got evaluated on my skills. After I started getting more and more involved, I knew that playing college volleyball is where I wanted to be.
I come from a small school in Mondamin, Iowa. Our school has approximately 300 students throughout K-12. That meaning everyone from here knows everyone, and is very willing to help out anyone. My high school volleyball team runs low on numbers, but that doesn't stop me from doing what I love and playing with my team. This is another reason I enjoy playing with my club team, because it gets me out to more experiences and playing against more competitive teams that my school may not provide.
I work hard in school, and school work is very important to me. I was raised in a family that grades are very important, and we were always taught to give 110% in everything we do. I maintain a high GPA and I always find ways with my teachers to have extra credit in my classes. I plan on taking my ACT for the second time during the spring of my junior year.
I enjoy playing other sports too and staying active. I come from a very athletic family, so we are always working on agility. I enjoy playing softball also, I have been a varsity starter since my sophomore summer. My freshman summer for softball we qualified for the IGHSAU State Tournament in Fort Dodge, Iowa. I was a second base starter for the state tournament. I have received three varsity letter in volleyball, three letters in softball, and two letters in basketball.
