My name is Clara Benskin and I look forward to starting my sophomore year of high school and second year of 6A varsity volleyball soon. I’m also very excited for for my sixth year of club volleyball and another trip to nationals in 2020.
Focus, commitment, dedication, and hard work are the principles that have allowed me to excel both academically and athletically. As a student athlete, I have high expectations of myself. I set lofty goals and then do what needs to be done to achieve them. In school, I get involved, study hard, and strive to be the best student I can be by not always taking the easiest path. In volleyball, I show up early, stay late, and work in every practice and game to jump higher, hit harder, improve my swing, block more.
I continue to be a leader and support my teammates on and off the court. As a freshman starting varsity, I worked hard to be an impact player. I helped take my team to the state championships and look forward to doing it again this season. I’m also a leader on my club team and have a reputation nationally as always being super competitive. I was recognized by PrepVolleyball for my performance at the 2019 Lone Star tournament in Dallas. They also listed me as a "Star Who Shined” all three days at Nationals in Indy.
As I think about plans for college, my focus is to find a school that will allow me to obtain a high quality education and play volleyball at the highest level. I have no doubt that I can make this happen with focus, commitment, dedication, and hard work.
