My name is Ali Henry and I am a 13-year-old volleyball player from Northeast Kansas. I not only want you to see my abilities on film, my dedication to the sport, my team, and the statistics I plan to upload over the years, but I also want to tell you about my dedication and leadership off the court. My current Club is the Topeka Saints Volleyball club where I play both the DS position as well as a hitter. During my last school season, I was a setter for all six rotations due to team needs and we finished 2nd in our league. Next year I will transition to my high school team, Nemaha Central High School, which has a strong volleyball tradition. Last year the Freshman, Junior Varsity and Varsity teams had a combined record of 90-4 at the end of the regular season and placed 2nd at 3A state! One goal I have is to help lead my team to a state championship. This Club season my Saints team traveled to Kansas City to the Martin Luther King tournament where we fought hard to break into the gold bracket going 6-0 during the first two days. Other tournaments we have participated in this season were in Wichita, Lawrence, and Omaha for the President’s Day tournament where we missed the gold bracket by one set. I plan to continue working hard in the weight room and practicing daily on my own to keep improving my skill sets.
As I said above, you are going to see videos of me and my playmenship on the court but I’d like to tell you about myself off of the court. As a 12-year-old in 7th grade last year I worked with another basketball manager and we planned and executed a pancake breakfast for the middle school students to raise money for the Nemaha County Christmas Bureau again this year held the breakfast and nearly doubled the donation amount. I am striving towards my KEY award in 4H, I have received two Positive Office Referrals so far this year at Nemaha Central Middle School and was asked to decorate the office door. I plan to attend Catholic Heart Work Camp this summer and I am volunteering my time to help raise money for the trip to Illinois this year. Lastly, sadly last January one of my middle school volleyball teammates was playing basketball and collapsed on the court and had a stroke. She was able to return this year to school and I was paired up with her daily to help her as a study buddy. She is a huge source of encouragement for me to continue doing good things on and off the court.
Now that you know a little bit about me, I would like to have the opportunity to demonstrate my leadership and athletic abilities to the coaches recruiting for the Class of 2027!
