From an early age I never liked to be in the spotlight or focused on. Unfortunately, when you are a 6’3” female that doesn’t work in any environment. There are many reasons why I stand out, but last on my list is my height.
We moved a lot when I was growing up, forcing me to learn a lot of good life lessons and life skills. Being on a team and making friends in a sport meant you were never alone. It was “us” having a common goal and passion uniting individuals together. I knew the value of teamwork and learned quickly that communication and adapting easily made me a stronger player. I struggled as an athlete thinking if I made less, or zero mistakes I would be a better player. As a sophomore I was fortunate enough to be apart of Blue Valley High Schools first undefeated team on JV. It took some frustrating games and a knee surgery to remind me that perfect isn’t reality. But a strong physical and mental athlete is a superb combination. As with most athletes, my career has had it’s ups and downs as I continue to climb higher, hit new goals, achieve things I worked so hard for, and have become a leader in the sport I love.
