Personal Statement
I fell in love with volleyball the very first time I stepped on the court in the 5th grade instructional league. Volleyball has been a significant part of my life ever since. I have a true passion for the game; the team dynamic, friendships, competition, strategy, and the pure excitement of just being on the court.
I began my high school career in 2014 as an 8th grader playing at the freshman level and later that same year being moved to the JV team. In 2015, I started at the varsity level as a freshman and was recognized by my teammates with the Varsity Team Spirit Award. Additionally, I was named to the 2015 All-Tournament team during the Cake Classic held at Highlands High School. This tournament consisted of schools from Lexington, Louisville and Northern Kentucky. In 2014, my NKYVC teammates selected me for the Team First Award to recognize my efforts during the club season.
I am a very agile and versatile player with very good hands and footwork, and I believe in unselfish play to help the team win and succeed. I work hard to be a team leader and encourage my teammates at all times. I am a very coachable player taking direction and instruction to strengthen my instincts. I am very competitive and believe in the motto "give 100% effort 100% of the time and you will achieve 100% of your goals". I am a determined player, who sets goals and then strives to achieve those goals. I can play as a strong outside hitter as I do for Campbell County High School or can be a strong and agile defensive specialist as I do on my NKYVC team. I have very strong court awareness, great understanding for the strategy of the game and great instinct for defense and ball placement.
In the classroom, I stay focused as I currently maintain a 3.92 GPA while taking AP classes, and was awarded the Student/Athlete Academic Award during the Varsity Volleyball banquet.
I desire to play collegiate volleyball at a very competitive level and will continue to gain more knowledge, strength, and versatility to achieve that goal.
