Kiersten Taylor '24 Recruiting Profile

I began playing volleyball in the 6^th grade and was instantly “all-in”.  I love everything about the sport, especially the fast-paced competition and the friendships with my teammates. 

I‘ve played on both the JV and Varsity teams at Owensboro High School and currently play on the Thoroughbreds 18u team with Tristate Volleyball Alliance (TVA). I have played every position at one time or another, but my current position is Outside Hitter.  By the time I graduate, I will have played 6 years of club and 7 years of school ball.

I feel that I am a very coachable player, always looking for ways to improve on my game.  I’m a vocal leader on and off the court and a hard worker. 

Academics are also very important to me.  I am a straight A student having never received anything lower than an A.  Currently, I’m ranked first in my class. I’m on the leadership team of Fellowship of Christian Athletes and have also cheered for most of my life. My Varsity Cheer team competed at UCA Nationals in 2022 and 2023.

I am honored to have been recognized on the 2023 JVA Watch List Class of 2024. In addition, I was voted Owensboro High School’s Most Improved Volleyball Player for the 2020-2021 year and was the recipient of the Ed Parish Sportsmanship Award for the 2019-2020 school year. This award, voted on by teachers, coaches, and administration, is the highest middle school (athletic) honor presented to the 8^th grade student who, along with being a good teammate, displays athletic ability, sportsmanship and leadership.

My dream is to play volleyball in college while earning my degree.  I will work hard to perform at my best in order to be an asset for any team I am a part of.
