Personal Statement
Versatility and adaptability are two words I use to describe who I am as a player. Having the opportunity to play every position has given me a unique experience of understanding every player’s role on the court. Yes, I know I’m not the tallest nor the strongest hitter, but I do know that I am a player who will give 110% of effort and heart for every game and every practice. Starting varsity volleyball in 8th grade has given me the opportunity to play at a high level for 5 years and being selected for our Elite club volleyball team since I was 11 has strengthened my aspiration to play volleyball at a college level- despite living with perthes disease in my hip.
Serving in multiple roles on my teams has been difficult as I have had to train diligently in three different positions on the court. In addition to always being a student of the game, I have been able to maintain a 3.8 GPA and participate in three other varsity sports at my High School. I believe my success is driven by my continuous positive and coachable attitude, as well as my mental toughness to overcome my leg length difference, due to my disease, has shaped me into the determined hard working athlete that I am today.
Given the opportunity to play at the collegiate level- I will bring the positive, hardworking, and adaptable attitude that has made me a successful teammate, leader, and student to any team. Many of my coaches and teachers say I am fearless and that I do not let anything detour me from what I want and I would love the opportunity to show you that they are right.
