Personal Statement
I plan to play volleyball in college. I have played volleyball since 5th grade for school and club and I have a lot of experience at a high level already and plan to have lots more by the time I graduate. My goal is to play at a school whose athletic teams are competitive and also focused on grades and academics.
I've played on our high school varsity team since 7th grade (2013) and have been a starter playing 6 rotations the whole time. We have made it to State every year and the last two years in a row we made it to the finals, taking second both years.
For school ball my acknowledgements/awards include first team All-State for2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017, first team All-District in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017, District MVP 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017, first team All-Acadiana for both the Baton Rouge Advocate and the Lafayette Daily Advertiser in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017, and I was the Advocate's All-Acadiana Small Schools MVP in 2014 as an 8th grader. In 2015 as a freshman I was also MaxPreps first team All-American and PrepVolleyball.com's National Top 25 Freshman Finalist. I was also featured as the Daily Advertiser's Female Athlete of the Week in October 2015. http://www.theadvertiser.com/story/sports/high-school/2015/11/13/female-athlete-week-addie-vidrine/75726006/ I was named to the PrepVolleyball Sophomore National Finalist list and was a top Junior Recruit in 2017. I've also been on the Defensive Dandies list for PrepVolleyball and have many Star Search and Super Nova mentions. I've also been on the JVA Watch List.
For my club team I am a two time AAU National Champion for 2013 and 2015 and a three time All-American (2013, 2015 and 2016), and the 2013 MVP of the national tournament.
I've played in lots of high pressure tournaments and matches like the Open tournaments my club team plays in (MEQ, Lonestar etc) and in the State tournament for high school. I can handle pressure and feel like I play best when the pressure is on. I like to win and will do whatever it takes to help my teammates get the "W". http://theadvocate.com/sports/acadianapreps/13941158-75/ascension-episcopals-addie-vidrine-plays
I am dedicated, ambitious, and kind and I do well in school. I have a lot of friends and I am considered a leader on my teams even though I am young. I am not afraid to put in the time it takes to be a good athlete. I have trained at many high level sports camps including Sports Performance in Chicago. For the past six years we have traveled 4-5 hours round trip 2-3 times a week to Slidell, Hammond and Baton Rouge, La. for club team practices, and I am willing to do what it takes to become the best athlete I can be.
