Personal Statement
During my freshman and sophomore year of playing volleyball at Stone Ridge, the volleyball team has been regarded as underdogs. The most exciting thing about that status was proving people wrong and coming out on top as one of the better teams in the ISL. Along the way, I became a natural cheerleader for our team on the court. Whether or not I made a kill or someone else did I made it my priority to be the loudest on my team to excite my teammates, especially when we were down. This attitude payed off most when my team played against St. Vincent Pallotti. We were down 8 to 14. Many of my teammates were deterred, but I still had hope. The hope within me prompted me to effectively kill and block until we eventually came out as winners. That day I realized the relevance of the sentiment that the game is not over until the score says 25 (or in the case of a tiebreaker 15). As a player at Stone Ridge I learned to never give up and play to the fullest, a skill I believe will be especially prevalent at the collegiate level because volleyball is both a mental and physical sport.
