Personal Statement
My name is Shannon Salo, and I am a 6' 1" middle blocker from the class of 2020. I first started playing volleyball in 6th grade, where I played for the Anglo-American School of Moscow's middle school volleyball team through all three years of middle school. I am now playing at a higher level of competition after moving back to America, where I play for Northern High School's Varsity team and South River Volleyball Club's team Seagulls.
In the classroom, I enjoy challenging myself in AP and honors courses. I currently attain a GPA of 4.1 while taking 3 AP courses, an accelerated math class, and a college-level biomedical science course. I also actively participate in my school's chapter of Best Buddies International, a club that helps integrate students with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities into a social environment. This passion for things I love carries over onto the court, where I like to push myself to the limit and be a student of the game. I love learning how to be a better player, so I feel as though I am very coachable and hardworking. I am determined to play the best that I can and I enjoy competition.
My goal as a college student athlete is to receive a good education to prepare me for the future, where I hope to study to be either a nurse or a physical therapist. I also look forward to participating in a competitive program where I can become the best volleyball player I can be. I hope to find the right college and program where I feel like I am at home!
