My name is Sidonia Cecco, and I get 1% better everyday in everything that I do. I’m constantly on my grind to make myself a better athlete, student, and community member. I started my volleyball journey at 8 years old, but I really became passionate about it when I was 10 years old. At the time, I wanted to try out for the 12u team at Revolution Volleyball club, but they didn’t have enough girls to make a team, so I tried out for their 14u team instead. Surprisingly, I made the team and played as a Libero the whole season. After playing for Revolution, I decided to try out for Liberty Elite Volleyball Club, and that is the team that I’ve been playing for since I was 11. I am a very coachable, energetic, and consistent all around player. My main position is Libero/DS, but I take pride in being able to play anywhere on the court at any time as I can adjust very quickly.
My main college goals are to play collegiate level volleyball and study law. I want to attend a school that will allow me to further my volleyball and academic career. I’m especially interested in attending a Military Academy as being a member of the U.S military is something I’ve always wanted to do. My biggest volleyball accomplishment so far is attending the 2019 USAV High Performance Future Select National Training Camp as a Libero. My biggest academic accomplishments are being accepted into the BETA Club, taking all honors classes since 6th grade, and maintaining a 4.0 GPA.
One thing that makes me different from other recruits is that I am a very well rounded player. I can play Libero, DS, and Rightside & Outside hitter while most Libero/DS’ cannot play front row as well as back row. I am able to make smart decisions very quickly on the court, even when things get stressful. Another thing that makes me different from other recruits is that I am extremely driven and eager. I know a lot about the game as I’ve been playing since such a young age, but I still have a lot to learn, and I’m always looking for opportunities to better myself on the volleyball court. I’ve learned the hard way that I cannot wait for opportunities to come to me, I have to seek them out myself. I’m always eager to get touches outside of practice, so when I need to work on something, I let my coaches know and we schedule a private. In addition to this, I am constantly doing stength training and speed and agility conditioning, so off days have become a rare occurrence for me. Lastly, I know that mental toughness is just as important as physical toughness, so my vollyball mindset is something I am always trying to improve. Also, I’m always amped up and know how to bring the energy! I know exactly how to get my team moving, excited, and ready to play.
