Personal Statement
Hi Coach,
My collegiate goals are to do well academically, play volleyball, and enjoy the social experiences that college life provides. And did I mention I REALLY want to play volleyball? I can't imagine not playing volleyball after high school. When I'm not playing volleyball, I want to play volleyball! I have met a lot of people and made a lot of friends and with the help of some great coaches, my game has improved a lot over the years. I really enjoy being part of a team and learning more about the game. What I love the most about volleyball is the fast paced nature of it. I believe I possess the abilities to know where I'm supposed to be on the court at all times and the right amount of aggression to help my team win the game. And -- I'm *very* competitive!
Although I play outside hitter for my high school and club teams, I believe I have become well rounded at all positions on the court and have the distinction of being on the court for every set except for one in both my sophomore and junior years on the varsity team.
I am currently interested in the study of biology and would like to go to school for a degree in a biology-related field, preferably biotech or engineering. I am taking AP Biology right now and do well in it - I find it very fascinating!
I would love to speak to you about my college goals and what I might be able to offer you as a player. I am willing to work hard and feel that I work very well with other people. I have been told I am very coachable (by coaches!). I also believe I learn quickly, but I could be biased! You can ask my coach!
I am hoping to do some volunteer work this summer. I enjoy working with children and animals. In the past, I have volunteered at some local fundraisers that benefit the MDA and ALS organizations as well as participating in fundraising for my high school and club travel teams.
