Personal Statement
Coaches evaluation from NYC Juniors Elite Prospect Camp (June 2019): "Caitlin is the girl you want to coach. She was extremely receptive to critique and immediately made the adjustments as soon as she was told. She is a hard worker and goes all out for every point."
I was a competitive gymnast for 10 years, but when my school formed a volleyball team during my 8th grade year I quickly developed a strong passion for the sport. I practiced and competed simultaneously in both sports for two years until June of 2018 when I decided to focus solely on my volleyball progression. Moving on from gymnastics was a tough decision but I knew it was crucial if I wanted to dedicate serious time to playing volleyball as well as maintain my academics, two things that are very important to me.
I have since dedicated my time year round to volleyball playing on top club teams, attending college prospect clinics and camps, and just wanting to learn and grow as much as possible in this sport I now love so much and see myself playing for as long as I can.
In my athletic career I recognize that the mental game is just important as the physical one. I take pride in my composed attitude, capacity to bounce back, and ability to pick my teammates up. I have worked extremely hard to build on these characteristics which are crucial qualities, in my opinion, for a leader to have. I am always looking to be challenged and I am always asking for feedback to excel and improve my play and have been told I am "very coachable" and a smart hitter.
My goals are to play for a competitive volleyball team at a selective college and major in the field of engineering, environmental, or physical sciences, and where there are opportunities to study abroad and continue my passion for the visual and performing arts.
