My name is Haley Goff. I am a setter/outside hitter graduating in 2020. I have been playing volleyball for 7 years though it doesn't feel like it's been that long. I was first introduced to sports by a family friend in gymnastics. I did competitive gymnastics for 5-6 years until I was 10 years old but it wasn't quite the right fit for me. Although it taught a lot about being self-disciplined. When I decided to give that up, my mom encouraged me to play volleyball. Looking back, it's kind of funny that I didn't even know volleyball was a sport at that age. Despite my inexperience, I fell in love with the sport immediately. Thanks to my gymnast background, I have a fair amount of body control and can adjust my body to achieve the goal at hand, whatever it may be.
I just finished my Junior year and have been named captain of my varsity team at Bridgman High School for the 2nd year. I was co-captain my Sophomore year. I am just shy of 5'10 but what I lack in height, I make up for in my vertical; I reach about 9'3 to 9'4 consistently. Thls this past season I hit 3 major milestones as a varsity player, I reached my 1000th kill, 1000th assist, and 1000th dig.
While I do spend a lot of time working on my athletic abilities, my grades are very important to me. I have a 4.13 GPA. My favorite subject is science. I finished up Chemistry 1 and 2, which they have been two of my all time favorite classes.. I have aspirations to be a physical therapist, optometrist, or dentist in the future so my love for science will certainly help me accomplish my goals. However, I also enjoy Spanish class. I just finished my 4th year and still learning a lot everyday. I have been to Spain on a class trip and would love to go back again someday as a missionary and work with adults and children on learning the English language or in the field that I study. I haven't had a lot of opportunity to volunteer, however I am hoping to be able to find time to volunteer because giving back to my community would be such a blessing.
I knew from the start that I wanted to play volleyball in college. I am looking for a rigorous college with good programs for biology, chemistry, health sciences, or kinesiology where I can be able to play the sport I love and do well on my schoolwork.
