Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Hannah. I am 17 years old and I attend Delton Kellogg High school in Delton, MI. I grew up participating in a variety of sports including gymnastics, soccer, basketball, snowboarding and swimming. My first introduction to volleyball was in third grade and it was at a sixth grade camp that I fell in love with the sport. It has been my passion ever since. Volleyball has given me so many great experiences, learned life skills and I have made great friends that I can't imagine my life without this sport. My goal, since sixth grade, is to play college volleyball and I work hard every day to achieve this goal. I have been fortunate to have some amazing coaches that have pushed me and shown me what it takes to be successful. In my spare time I enjoy riding and training horses, reading and spending time with friends and family. This year I had the opportunity to work with a youth volleyball team and it has been a great experience because it allows me to share my excitement for the sport.
I love being a setter! I love all of the mental and technical aspects along with the strategy involved in the position. I try to lead with a positive attitude and consistent play. I am an athletic setter with a strong competitive drive. I take pride in my ability to defend and pass. I strive to make my team better by inspiring them to bring their best and give 110% every time we step on the court.
I have been fortunate to play on successful high level teams throughout my club volleyball career. This past club season I played up on USA MI’s 17-N team. In April we won the Volleyfest AAU Super Regional securing a bid to the AAU Junior Nationals. We ended the season placing 19th in the country at the AAU Nationals. This season I am a team captain for my club team. During my high school career I have been the varsity starting setter since my freshman year. Delton Kellogg competes in one of the top leagues in Michigan as a Class B school.
I strive to achieve my best in everything I do, in the gym and out. I like to challenge myself and began taking multiple AP classes during my sophomore year. I serve as a Big Brothers Big Sisters Peer Leader and am a member of SADD and the Youth Advisory Council. I plan on attending a university with a strong academic reputation. Hopefully my skills, dedication and qualities on and off the court will make me a valuable asset to my future college team.
