Personal Statement
In the past, I struggled with deciding which sport I'd like to pursue as a collegiate athlete - softball or volleyball. Upon entering high school I felt I had to dedicate myself fully to one - if I'm going to maximize my potential. I know now that volleyball is my true love and allows me to maximize my athleticism. While not giving up softball, volleyball is now priority.
My work eithic is displayed in my 4.0 GPA, playing two sports with both high school and club seasons, and the feedback I get from my coaches and teammates. I really feel that my commitment, dedication, and willingness to sacrifice is what will set me apart from other recruits. I have genuine love for the game and could never get burned out from volleyball.
On my club team I have played outside hitter and defensive specialist. But then when my varisty high school team was in need of a setter, I was thrilled to learn that new position and contribute as freshman. I ended leading the team in both aces and assists. In college, My goal is to play libero/ds.
The thought of being able to attend college by waking up every morning to the rigid structure of classes, study halls, conditioning workouts, and practice on the volleyball court really excites me. It would be a dream come true. I couldn't imagine life any other way.
I feel the opportunity to play at the collegiate level would be, the culmination of all of my hard work and sacrifice. It would be how I could best utilize my God given talent, my energy, and my leadership skill. Volleyball holds a very special place in my heart and I couldn't imagine life without playing it everyday.
