My name is Kendall Krueger and I’m hoping your recruiting needs for 2020 include an explosive and strong Libero/Defensive Specialist (DS) with the competitive spirit, quickness, court awareness, and the swift decision making skills I can provide.
My coaches and teammates have always looked to me for leadership. I am the one on and off the court who works hard, stays engaged, accepts responsibility, gives 110% at all times, and motivates both myself and others to perform their best. Playing volleyball is my passion and I pride myself on the success of the team and the relationships I build with coaches and teammates.
I am entering my senior year at West Catholic High School in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where I am taking college prep, as well as dual-enrollment college classes, and hold a 3.67 Cumulative GPA. I have played volleyball for school each year, earning a spot on the varsity team as a sophomore; I have always been a valuable asset and leader to the team. On JV, I played OH, and never came off the court. On varsity, I play libero and helped lead my team to a District Championship last year, taking down some great competition.
I have been playing volleyball through school and club year-round for the past seven years (since 6th grade). I have played at the elite level for Michigan Volleyball Academy for five of those years as an Outside Hitter (OH). In the 2018 season, due to my height, I transitioned to Libero/DS. During that season I competed on the 16s Elite team and was on the roster to play as both an OH and a DS. I mainly played all the way around as an Outside Hitter (OH) and was voted MVP by my teammates. I was also voted the player with the most confidence and the most grit for my age group. This year, for winter season, I started playing libero/DS; however, due a teammate's injury, I played OH all the way around. In my current season, I am playing Libero and OH, but also being trained as a back-up setter and set as needed during tournaments. I am happy to train/play wherever I am needed. Through all my training and playing, I have acquired a wide variety of skill development and continue to get great experience in all positions and lots of touches on the ball.
I know my height is a factor in playing hitter in college, so I am focusing primarily on back row training. I find that having so much experience as a hitter (and now gaining experience as a setter) benefits me in playing libero/DS. My hitting experience developed my power to make great kills from the back row and provides additional hitting options to my team. It has also developed my court awareness as I have to play very smart hitting against tall blockers, requiring me to quickly analyze the court and strategize where and how to hit or place the ball.. And, setting has improved my ball control and speed on the court.
On every club team, I have always been a starter and a player that is continuously on the court. I pride myself on performing my best for my team and offering support and leadership to others to perform their best as well.
If you feel I would be an asset to your program, please contact me directly by e-mail at [email protected] or on my cell at 616-644-8777.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Best Regards,
Kendall Krueger
