I am a driven, resilient, coachable quick-learner who is hungry for high-level competition and instruction. Compelled to get better with every practice and every game, I train hard and also take team leadership very seriously. A late-comer to the sport of indoor volleyball, I am rapidly developing toward becoming a collegiate athlete. There may be others with more years under their belt, but my full potential has yet to unfold. I need to find a like-minded coach who sees my athleticism and meets my drive. I'm in search of a coach who is excited to mold, shape and groom me into the high-level player I know I can be!
An avid soccer player all my life, I discovered my love for volleyball in middle school. (Coaches love my quick feet!) In 9th grade, I played right-side hitter all-around on JV and was pulled up to Varsity as a freshman to begin training as the setter. That year I started AAU and played with Team Angle U16 and subbed for the U18 national team.
I hit the ground running my sophomore year, developing quickly earning the starting Varsity Setter position playing all-around without being subbed. I was honored with being named First Team Lakes Eight All-Conference 2017 and Second Team All-Area. In club volleyball, I was the starting setter for Team Angle's National U18 Black Team 2017/18 Winter/Spring.
In my HS of my junior year, my and I team started the year off strong. We had so many goals! My most recent video is from that time period. Unfortunately, I came down with mono and missed the bulk of my 2018 season. Thankfully my strong start and growing reputation afforded me being named 1st team all-conference. I learned a lot about perseverance and overcoming disappointment. I trained hard to come back at the end of the season and helped my team claim the conference championship! Club volleyball for winter 2019 is an important one for me as I have many goals. I have a new coach at a new club (referred by my former club coach, which is a great side-bar story of selflessness) and I'm already seeing myself getting better, smarter and stronger.
My father tells me to "trust the timing of your own story." He didn't play football until 9th grade and by his senior year he was heavily recruited by more than 20 universities and landed at the University of Michigan with a full -ride scholarship. I am excited to see my story unfold and am looking forward to playing my best volleyball at the University level.
Excellence is not just for athletics. I aim high with my grades and look forward to majoring in biology. I'm a born leader with a resilient attitude. I delight in building-up and motivating my teammates to be the best version of themselves. Off the court, my non-profit business, Blessed with a Dress, is true to that same philosophy making excellence tangible and achievable for every young woman.
Please reach out to me so we can meet! Who knows how many championships await us!
