My name is Ruby Foster, and I am in my junior year at Onsted High School, in Onsted Michigan. I've been involved in Student Council for three years as a secretary, and in doing so I have been a part of many blood drives and community service opportunities. I am proud to be a member of the National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS) and have also been invited to join the National Hispanic Honors Society. During High School I have participated in Track and Field, but now my primary focus is volleyball. As a freshman I was the starting middle blocker for our Junior Varsity team. During my Sophomore year I achieved a position as the back up middle blocker on Varsity. As a team, we ended the season with a 50-5 win/loss record, which broke the previous school record for wins and losses. Now as a Junior, I took the starting MB position supporting my team as we became LCAA conference champions for the 2nd year in a row.
Outside of school I have played club volleyball for 8 years. For the past three, I have been a member of the number 1 Glass City Volleyball team, in Toledo Ohio. Last year was very successful as we went 56-6, winning 5 of our 8 tournaments, and ended the season the #1 team in OVR. The 2020 season was cut short but we were still able to compete in 4 tournaments, winning two of them and being ranked #131 in the Nation. A highlight reel for this season can be found here https://youtu.be/Jl3TTC6Cfic. As we start the 2021 season I have taken a position on the Legacy Elite Academy National team and look forward to being able to compete during this uncertain time.
I enjoy being able to help my team as much as I can, and continue to work on becoming a better leader. I am very coachable and always up for new challenges. As for my college aspirations, I would love to further my volleyball career and flourish academically in the medical field.
