Personal Statement
My name is Anna Lewis. I will graduate from Gabriel Richard Catholic High School in 2016. I began playing sports in the third grade at St. Joseph Catholic School in Trenton, Michigan. I have been a point guard in basketball, a pitcher and short stop in softball, a forward in soccer, and a libero, defensive specialist, and outside hitter for volleyball. At the age of 10, I earned a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. This was a huge achievement, being the youngest ever to do so at the school of Tae Kwon Do I attended. (I tested against grown men who did not pass the rigorous two day event.)
I started playing volleyball in the 6th grade. It became my passion. When I am on the court, nothing else matters. I want to WIN. I am "focused, coachable, passionate, skilled, and committed" with "the grit a coach treasures in an athlete". I'm extremely competitive, relentless, and never willing to give up. You can see my positive work ethic both on the court and in the classroom, as my grades also show my commitment. I have earned an overall GPA of 4.29, one of the highest in my class, and I also have earned a 4.42 GPA for several quarters this year.
My dream in college is to pursue a career in the medical field, while also playing volleyball. I am willing to work hard and never give up on the school I will commit to.
