Even though I have been playing volleyball since I was in 2nd grade, I know I will never get sick of this sport. I love to keep learning new things about the game and about myself. I also play beach volleyball during the summers with my twin sister Cassie, and that has helped me become a much better all-around player. My attitude about learning keeps me focused in school and makes me excited to think about college. I like to take a variety of classes, so I’m looking for schools that have lots of opportunities.
Last year was tough for me on the volleyball court. I was the only freshman who made the varsity team and I felt left out a lot of the time. I also only played back row most of the season. During the club season, I played all six rotations and I gained a lot of confidence as a hitter. I played all the way around my sophomore year in high school and ended up leading the team in kills. It was an amazing season and we just missed going to the state tournament. A few weeks after the season, we found out our assistant coach, Marlon, died of a heart attack. As a captain next year, I want to dedicate our season to him. I’m going to ask our team to leave a spot open on the bench in honor of him. I’m also going to make sure any new players feel welcomed, to be a good leader on and off the court, and to help my team make it to state!
