Personal Statement

My name is Gabrielle Peterson. I am a student at Mankato West High School. I am currently 17 years old.

My college goal is to become an elementary teacher. I have decided this is what I would like to do when I am put in the real world. I love spending time with kids and also helping others become smarter and helping them if they struggle.  My school education is very important to me and always will be my number one focus so I can do my best in life.  One of the classes I am taking to try to make my college goal possible is my mentorship, my school offers students from 11th-12th grade to go to elementary schools and work with students who are struggling and need extra help. I am also involved in a thing called Link Crew, which is the freshmen orientation leaders to help them get ready and used to high school.

My volleyball career is very important to me because it allows me to get my mind off of anything that is stressful at the moment. Every time I go on the court i forget everything that isn't volleyball-related, I leave it behind me and help my team do the best they can. I have been playing volleyball for around 8-9 years now. Volleyball is my passion and I would love to bring it to college with me so then it is a way to get all the stress of family, or school off and focus on what I am doing at that moment.

Outside of school and volleyball, I have some jobs. One of my jobs is working at Big Dog as a food runner, meaning that I bring the food to the table. This job really helps me with getting used to talking to people I don't know and customer service. Another job I have is at Berry Blendz, this is a smoothie and smoothie bowl place on campus so it gets me used to how a campus works with students walking around and coming in also with customer service. Then, when I am free I babysit for multiple families. this is what got me wanting to become a teacher because of how much I love babysitting these kids.

By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
