Personal Statement
My name is Sammie Steffens and I am a 5’ 8” outside hitter and libero/defensive specialist. I am a relentless and committed player, and I love to talk and lead my team on the court. I began playing volleyball in fourth grade as I had a passion for sports and because my mom, who is an inspiration to me, played volleyball while she was in high school. My mom is a huge influence in my life because she is extremely determined. She has come very far and accomplished many things in her life and I aspire to be just like her.
My high school volleyball career began in seventh grade at Hill Murray High School where I played on the Freshman A team as a seventh-grader and I played on the Sophomore B Squad team as an eighth-grader. Currently, I play at White Bear Lake High School where I have been a starting, six-rotation, outside hitter on Varsity since my sophomore year. In the off-season, I play club for Kokoro Volleyball. I have played club volleyball with Kokoro for two going on three years and in my 15s year, my team placed 1st at Nationals in the Classic Division.
My academic ambitions stretch beyond high school, I want to attend college and study in the field of healthcare. I currently take many rigorous courses, such as AP and Honors courses, to challenge myself and ready myself for the expectations of college classes. I am a diligent student and I set high standards for myself as I strive to reach my goals.
