Track and Field -the sport that takes more than athleticism. It is one where you need heart, a strong work ethic, and dedication. When I started running track my 8th grade year, it wasn’t fun. I tore my hip flexor and missed the second half of the season. Then unfortunately my 9th year it was cancelled due to COVID. Fortunately for me, this is when I knew I had a new sport growing inside. For the better part of that year, I spent focusing on strengthening my mind and body. In addition to working out I played volleyball to keep me physically engaged. By the start of my sophomore year, I was mentally and physically ready. I was named Offensive MVP 2020 JV volleyball season but most importantly redemption for my missed track seasons happened. For the 2021 track season I was named 1st Team All Area, All District, All Sectional and All State. Also, I was able to attend the Junior Olympics this past summer in Humble, TX where I posted 2 PR’s (58.75-400m and 4’11-HJ).
To this point I’ve been truly blessed and I pray that I continue to be a blessing for your and your organization. To do that I’m at my best when I contribute whether it be participating in additional events or being that emotional/spiritual leader. My goal is to not only be an exceptional collegiate athlete but also continue to grow as a young woman. With that growth I pray I can utilize my knowledge and experience to help others within my community to grow. I look forward to meeting and visiting with you and your staff so I can learn how we can succeed together.
