It was the invitation from a friend asking me to play on her rec team that introduced me to volleyball. I quickly began to discover my mental knack for the sport. I soon realized, however, that if I was going to excel physically at volleyball, I was going to have to figure out a way for my 4 long limbs to start talking the same language and work in harmony. This was easier said than done. I learned how to be dedicated, how to be coachable, and how important it was for me to work on these skills outside of the gym. My personal faith, support of my family and coaches has, and will continue to be a key asset for me.
I believe in the "work before play" mentality and apply that in my everyday life as I push toward my goal of someday being a Pediatrician. As an incoming freshman, I look forward to the opportunities to show my leadership skills as I strive to be my best in everything I do, both on and off the court.
