Personal Statement
After spending 5 years playing select softball, my P.E. teacher in middle school, who was also the Varsity volleyball coach at the high school, talked me into trying out for volleyball in my freshman year. I had never played before and had no idea what to expect. I made the freshman team and quickly fell in love with the sport. Since that time, I have never regretted my decision to change sports. I went on to play club volleyball and then made the Varsity team in my sophomore year of high school.
After my first high school season, I realized I was interested in playing college volleyball. I feel that I can make a great contribution to the success of a college-level team, while also pursuing an education that will prepare me for the future.
I am very coachable, taking in all advice and pointers that my coaches give to me. I am respectful of my coaches and have had a good rapport with all of them. I am always supportive and encouraging with my teammates. I strive to provide leadership for my teammates by pushing myself to be the best player I can be.
I am a person of high moral value. People can trust me to do the right thing and they respect me because of it. My actions set a good example for others and I have been complimented by other players’ parents that they appreciate me as a positive role model for their daughters. I care about other people and I take advantage of opportunities to help others. I work hard in school and maintain a high GPA. I hope to find myself at a college where I can be successful in both volleyball and my academics.
