Hello Coach,
My name is Megan Carey and I'm currently a Junior at St. Dominic High School and a member of the graduating class of 2018. I am a setter but also enjoy playing the RS or DS positions. I play for Team Momentum (STL) where I have spent the last three out of seven years of my club volleyball career. Our 2016 season ended with the opportunity to play in the American division of the USAV Junior Nationals Tournament in Indianapolis. During this summer I also participated in the USAV High Performance A2 Youth National Training Program in Colorado.
I have attended USAV HP camps for four consecutive years. I love being able to meet new friends from all around the country through the sport I love. I have enjoyed three years of high school volleyball so far, and this season we were conference champions and ranked #17 in Missouri by MaxPreps.
I not only strive to work hard and preform in my athletics, but also academically. I am enrolled in several rigorous Honors/dual-credit courses and currently hold a 4.15/4.0 GPA and a class rank of 7/168. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy traveling, reading, and spending time with my friends and family. I also spend my free time volunteering in the community, especially with my school and youth group.
It is my dream to be able to pursue my passion for playing collegiate volleyball while also receiving a quality education. It is very important to me that I attend a college where I feel that these two principal aspects of my life are best suited for one another and can shape me into the most competitive student athlete I can be. Volleyball has not only helped me build character, but also taught me that teamwork is a paramount component to anything we do in life. My goal for any team I have ever played on or aspire to play on is to improve not only my own skill set and leadership, but to push my teammates to be the best players they can be as well. I stay focused even in pressured situations during games and I feel I am very coachable as I am always looking to better myself. I am willing to work hard to achieve my goals and look forward to the recruiting process.
