Personal Statement
My name is Jessie Kaczmarek and I am a 17 year old junior at Rolla High School. I started volleyball in middle school, but I have participated in sports since I was 3. I did gymnastics for 11 years. I have also done multiple years of softball, soccer, basketball, cheerleading, swimming, and track. I have a large understanding for volleyball because of the multitude of positions I have played. I was an OH/DS in my local club RAVE from 6th-9th grade. My sophomore year I was an OH/DS in high school and club, and captain on both teams. I played club for High Impact Volleyball in Waynesville, Missouri. I played on the 17’s Silver team as an OH/DS and advanced to 17’s Gold as an LB/DS. My junior year for high school I was middle back libero on varsity. This year I am a captain on the 17's Mizuno team as a left back DS for Rockwood Thunder in St. Louis.
In the spring of my sophomore year I tried out for USAV High Performance. I was selected into the A3 training program as an Outside Hitter and Defensive Specialist in Las Vegas, Nevada at the beginning of August. I also attended the Sports Performance First Contact Camp in Benedictine, Illinois. Both of these camps were 5 days long with three sessions each day.
I have several qualities that make me a strong asset to any college program. I have great ball control and I am very athletic. I talk a lot on the court, whether I am telling my setter where her tip is or telling a hitter how many blockers she has up. I am aggressive, competitive, and hard working. I try my hardest for every ball, not just to get it off the ground but also to get it to target. I am a quick thinker and I read the ball well. I am a leader for my teammates. I work to keep everyone positive and focused on the game, whether we are winning or losing. My versatility and knowledge of back row positions, along with a high volleyball IQ, help me to make quick and smart decisions. Every day I try to be a better player than the player I was the day before, and I strive to do my best on and off the court. I am open to any geographic location. I plan to major in engineering, most likely chemical or environmental. I have a 4.0 GPA and I am 1 in my class of 293. My academic goal is to graduate as valedictorian.
