Personal Statement
My volleyball career started when I attended a camp at the United States Air Force Academy at the age of seven. That following fall as an eight-year-old I tried out for the fourth-grade team and made it a year early. I’ve been playing club ball ever since. I have principally been a setter for my career but my freshman and sophomore years of high school that position was filled and I played defense at the varsity level as a starter from ninth grade and I started as a defensive specialist my sophomore year. My high school coach has told me that I could be the Libero but she does not have another set or that can move as well as I do. AS a junior I ran a 5-1 very successfully. I loved leading my team on the court. This year I was primary steer but my coach needed my skills in the back rwo as well. We ran a modified 5-1 vs a 6-2. Even though I might be vertically challenged I believe if you see me play I will bring speed, defensive aggression to get to the ball with good passes and even an ability to block at the net based on my strength in my legs.
Currently, I have a 3.97 GPA on a weighted scale. I am taking the most rigorous courses I can, challenging myself academically with college level and advanced courses. I am a member of student council and I am President of National Honor Society.
I have an extensive resume involving service to include mission trips. I am the President of the School Ambassador organization for my school, I would fit that role well at the college level.
As a freshman and sophomore, I was fortunate enough to attend the state championship for Class 1, Missouri. We took second and third. Last year we won districts and were eliminated in the semi finals. This season just concluded with us making it to the quaterfinals, Missouri Class 2. In three sets we fell 22-25, 25-20, 23-25 and lost the chance to get to State. I am still passionate about playing college volleyball. I have been accepted at large schools such as Mizzou, Kansas State, Missouri State, Chicago Loyola and St Louis University. I am looking for other opportunities that may fit my profiles as a player.
