Personal Statement
My name is Zoe Volcko and I am a junior at Sacred Heart High School in Sedalia, MO. Volleyball has been a huge passion of mine since the first day I picked up a ball. I went to my first camp in 3rd grade and haven't stopped since. I started going to the summer open gyms for our high school team when I was in the 6th grade. In 2013 I went to an open tryout for a competitive club team in Columbia, MO. There were over 40 girls there and only two open spots and I got one of them! I still currently play with Club CoMo, the same team that I tried out for that year. Club CoMo has really helped me develop in not only my skills but has helped me build my overall strength, both physically and mentally. Through both my club and high school experience I have had an opportunity to play several different positions, including all three hitting positions, secondary setter and middle back defense, which has helped me with my overall volleyball IQ. Being able to move around on the court and especially playing middle back defense in my current school season, has helped me see the court better and anticipate what the other teams defense will be doing, making me a stronger hitter. No matter how inexperienced I feel in a new position, I always adapt and push myself to become a strong player. I would love the opportunity to play at the next level and continue growing not only as a player but as a person.
