My name is Phoebe Riddle. I am a Senior this year at Central High School in Springfield, Missouri. Volleyball has been such an incredible experience. I would love to continue playing in college and maybe even after as well. I currently play middle and I find that position to be a fun challenge. I love having a variety of shots that I can hit, and I love deciding which would be the best for me and my team throughout the game. I think of myself to be a hardworking, coachable, and supportive player on the court. I've realized how much I really want to play volleyball, and I've worked even harder to become better. Volleyball had become one of my passions. I love being a leader on the court, I have no problem encouraging my teammates, continuously talking to everyone, and yelling for the ball when I want it. Pushing myself to become a better player has been one of the best things for me because I feel I have become the player that I've always wanted to be. I understand that I still have a lot to improve on and learn, so playing in College and beyond is something I strive for.
For the 2020-2021 high school season, my school team finished 3rd in Missouri Class 5 after winning our district game against Lebanon. This was the first district title Central has won since 1978. I feel as though my team and I have all improved greatly, and I hope that we can go even further this year. For my 2020-2021 club season, I played for STATIC 17-1s. We ranked 21st overall in the Heart Of America region. That club season was one of my favorites and helped me get out of my shell and become an important voice on the court. I will be playing with STATIC 18-1s for the 2021-2022 club season. After my 2020 - 2021 club season, I joined Springfield SMASH 17-1s. We competed at the AAU Junior Nationals in Orlando, Florida in June. We were in the Club division and finished 27th out of the 188 teams. Because of these teams I have gained new friends, teammates, and a better sense of what I want to continue doing.
I am currently taking IB classes at Central High School such as Psychology, English, Film, and Spanish. I really have enjoyed taking more challenging classes and pushing myself to become a better student. In college, I would like to continue to pursue Psychology. I have found that it has been one of my favorite courses during high school. I am definitely open to looking at different levels and divisions in my college search. I want to continue to improve, and I think keeping my options open will help me with that goal. I'm really looking forward to finding the right match for me.
