Personal Statement
Hello! My name is Alexis Farris, and I am a 6'1" right-handed hitter who is committed to playing collegiate volleyball. I am currently playing at Chadron State College. I will graduated from High School in May of 2014 from Bennington (NE) Secondary School with a 4.024 GPA (on a 4.0 scale), was a member of the National Honor Society, and my class rank was #2 out of 103. I am a Pre-Pharmacy major enrolled in the Rural Health Opportunities Program (RHOP) through the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC).
I played club volleyball for the 2013 Nebraska Elite Volleyball Club on the “181” team, so I'm used to putting in the hard work necessary to accomplish personal goals. I was the only Junior on an otherwise all-Senior roster. At the beginning of my volleyball career, I started as Libero/Defensive Specialist, but between my Freshman and Sophomore years in High School I grew eight inches in height! This growth spurt allowed the coaches to add the front row to my capabilities and become a true six-position player. In 2012, I led my High School team in serve receives, received the “Best Passer” award, and garnered Academic All-State, Academic All-Conference, All-State and All-Metro Honorable Mention honors in 2012/2013. I have been selected as a Team Captain for 2013.
My goal is to continue to improve my performance as an athlete and as a student in a competitive and supportive collegiate environment. It is important to me to find the right coaching staff and teammates to make my collegiate experience one that will provide me with life skills and friendships to treasure forever.
