Personal Statement
I always dreamt of owning my own horse. My family does not earn a lot of money and we do not live in the country, so a part of me never thought that dream would become a reality. I visited with my parents and they told me they would try and help that dream come true, but that I would have to prove I was serious about taking on the huge responsibility of horse ownership. I made sure to take on chores that would prove to my parents how hard I was willing to work. After several years of taking lessons on leased horses, competing in 4-H/open shows, and working in a barn to help pay for the lease costs, my parents found a way to get me my first horse. I learned that pursuing one’s dreams with hard work and dedication help make them come true.
That same work ethic and attitude are shown in my academics as I have maintained a 3.86 GPA while taking Honors classes in science and at the same time competing in volleyball, cheerleading, 4-H, FFA, and FBLA. I have also had the opportunity to serve my community by feeding the homeless on Thanksgiving, ringing the bell for the Salvation Army, and packing meals for the Orphan Grain Train.
I want to attend a quality educational institution that challenges me through academics and provides me the opportunity to continue to be part of a team in the sport I love. I believe I have the talent to compete for a college volleyball team, and combined with my strong character, work ethic, and dedication to my teammates, could make an immediate impact on your program. I am currently traveling 2 hours for practices for my club/travel team NE ONE 17 Platinum at least once a week and am looking forward to a great season with a great group of teammates!
