Personal Statement
I started playing volleyball later than most that dream of playing in college but I quickly knew that I wanted to pursue it past high school. I began playing club volleyball in 2019 with Sureshots VBC. The season was cut short due to covid. However, I was able to take what I learned from there in that short amount of time and make it onto the varsity team my sophomore year. Even this season was cut short for me. My junior year was when I was able to truly showcase my abilities. I played against many competitive teams, most having players that had played for several years more than me. Although daunting, this never stopped me from giving everything I had to each game I played. This competitive spirit landed me second in my county for most kills in 2021 despite my limited experience. I accomplished this and more while attending an academically challenging stem school and maintaining a high grade point average at the time. I have been able to make the most of every second I spend playing. I take every opportunity I am able to hit, set, or pass as chance to learn and grow as a player. At 5'10", I knew I would eventually reach a level where I was consistently facing players much larger than me. I improved in every aspect of the game. I increased my athleticism and skillset. I hope to showcase this improvement in my club season this year.
