My name is Sophia Lotto and I am a junior at Eastchester High School in Eastchester, NY. I began my volleyball career 5 years ago and advanced to varsity volleyball as a freshman. I was starting libero as a sophomore and was honored to be captain of my high school team as well. I currently have taken on a new role as our team's setter, as well as continue playing as a DS. I am driven and hardworking, which helped me to achieve All League HM recognitions in both my freshman and sophomore year in addition to All-Conference & All-League my Junior year! I was also honored as a candidate in Lohud's FAB 40 preseason watch list and was awarded LOHUD player of the week during the 1st week of playoffs.
In addition to school volleyball, this will be my 4th year of travel volleyball. I have joined Scarsdale Travel 14, Downstate 15 & 16 Tsunami and was awarded MVP Player of the Year as well as coming in 2nd place in the Regional Championship in April 2018 and May 2019.
I strive to challenge myself both on and off the court. I have a strong work ethic, which helps me to balance my sports and academics, another area I am also passionate about. I manage to balance a full course load including advanced math and science courses as well as being elected class treasure for my freshman, sophomore and junior class. Being an officer allowed me to work on such projects as Rock Against Cancer, Habitat for Humanity builds and leading as Team Captain for Relay for Life raising over $1100 towards cancer research. This past season my volleyball team raised over $2000 for the Dig Pink Organization. Helping others through the various organizations I am a member of is something that I love to do.
I bring my positive attitude to the softball field as well. I began playing softball in 3rd grade joining recreation, travel, and my school team. I started on JV in 7th grade and was placed as captain of my softball team my freshman year. I joined the varsity team spring of my sophomore year and earned the role as starting 1st baseman. I was awarded All-League HM in 2019. I look forward to the additional challenges playing another varsity sport will bring.
I pride myself on being a team player and am very supportive of others. Both my coaches and teachers can attest I always give 100% in whatever situation I am placed in. I am highly competitive, love being part of a team and always push myself to be the best I can be. My ultimate goal is to attend a college that will challenge me academically and athletically. I will continue to work towards this goal through persistent training and determination.
