Personal Statement
I began playing volleyball in the fall of 7th grade. Over the next two years I developed a true passion and love for the game. Entering 9th grade I had to choose between Diving and Volleyball as they become the same season in high school. My obvious choice was volleyball.
I started playing Varsity as an outside hitter as a Freshman. I began to feel the pull of playing for a collegiate team and possibly further. After that first season I started to begin training as a setter and still continue to train year round. I also have very good defensive skills. I have learned the most thru my personal coach and participating in our regional (IREVA) HP programs.
I am quick and dependable on the court, striving not only to lead but to work side by side and back up my teammates. I am always encouraging. I do not dwell when myself or someone else makes a mistake. That moment has passed, we can learn from it but it can't be changed. I play in the moment and looking forward. I strive to be the best that I can.
Academically I have always tried hard but have my struggles with certain subjects. I've learned to accept the help available to me at school and use outside tutors also. I know I need to work even harder in the next two years of high school.
My goal for college is first to obtain a degree in Exercise Sciences/Sports Psychology for a promising career with an athletic addition and secondly to play competitively with a strong collegiate volleyball program. Hopefully this may open doors for continuing play after college.
