Personal Statement
My name is Beatrix Stewart-Frommer and I am currently a Junior at the Dalton School in New York City. Dalton is an academically rigorous school, and studying there for thirteen years has shaped my goals for life. In the future, I hope to become an orthopedic surgeon, a goal I am fully dedicated to reaching. I am looking for a college that prioritizes academic excellence as well as high-level volleyball. Off the court, I am involved in my school’s Model United Nations team, I lead the medical club, and I am involved in the school newspaper and yearbook. I’m a peer tutor, Dalton tour guide, and I volunteer and shadow doctors at the hospitals near me.
For the past 3 years, I have played at the All Star Empire Volleyball Club (ASEVC). The hour-plus commute to practices has taught me to develop strong time management skills and a strong work ethic to study anywhere. I learned my foundations of volleyball playing with this incredible club. This year, I have switched to NYC Juniors Volleyball Club, a high intensity volleyball club that has been a goal for me since I began playing. I made this switch not only for geographical convenience, but also for the foundations of teamwork, high-level volleyball, and commitment that I see at this club.
This sport has changed who I am for the better. Through playing volleyball, I have seen myself shift to gain more confidence, dedication, teamwork, and leadership skills. On the court, I make it my goal to be a leader, dominating the back of the court. I support my teammates, bring energy to the court, and put my all into not letting any ball hit the ground. What makes me different from other DS/Libero candidates is not only my drive and leadership skills, but also my interest in sports medicine and the dedication that I know it takes to get to every ball. I am academically driven, dedicated, supportive, hard-working, and I promise that if given the chance to be on your team I will never stop striving to become a better player, teammate, and leader.
