Personal Statement
Hello! My name is Victoria Tripp and I am currently a junior at Oswego High School in Oswego, New York. I have been playing volleyball since 7th grade, when I tried it out just to stay active. I fell in love with the sport the first time I touched a ball, and haven't looked back since. I began as a Middle Blocker and have primarily played there, but my athleticism allows me to be a weapon at other positions as well, especially at Outside, where I play now. My blocking abilities have also made me useful on the right side. In my academics, I have been an honors student since middle school and enjoy a challenge. I have been in the top 25 of my class since 7th grade, and look to continue that until I graduate. My diligence isn't only evident on the court, but in the classroom as well.
I have always been a very active person ever since I was a little kid. Since 7th grade, I have participated and excelled in many other school sports, such as soccer, basketball, lacrosse, and track and field. Volleyball is one of the most important things in my life, and its usually hard to get me out of the gym! This winter, I was an assistant coach for my school's 7th grade volleyball team. I absolutely loved the fact that teaching younger girls how to play volleyball made me focus more on my own basics, breaking down each skill and really perfecting my technique. I spend most of my free time watching sports, mostly either hockey or women's college volleyball. My go-to volleyball games are usually those played between Big Ten teams. Watching so much volleyball allows me to see the technique of some of the best college volleyball players in the country, and I try to model my game after players like Mikaela Foecke, and Kendall White.
Playing team sports from a young age has taught me a lot of important life skills, such as selflessness and cooperation. I enjoy being the reason people smile, and I believe my charisma and positive energy can be really beneficial on the court, and makes me fun to be around off the court. My work ethic and genuine love for the game make me stand out from the rest, and I strive to be the best teammate I can possibly be. My dream is to play college volleyball surrounded by people that I love, and I look forward to finding a school that best fits my bubbly and positive personality. :)
