Volleyball entered my life when I decided to sign up for a camp offered by a man who was both my middle school physical education teacher and current volleyball varsity coach. Walking into this camp, I was a nervous 7th grader who never touched a volleyball besides during physical education class. Presently, I am a determined student-athlete with healthy morals and strong ambitions. Over the years, I’ve developed into the person I am today due to the endless support from my amazing family, wonderful friends, and wise coaches. All who have helped me pursue the sport that I’m most passionate about: Volleyball. One of my favorite parts of the sport I love is that I get to share it with my teammates whom I consider a second family. I truly believe that there is no similar experience to the satisfaction achieved when pushing through an on-going rally and gaining the outcome you’ve worked strenuously for. Furthermore, when the outcome isn’t in your favor, there is an even greater amount of motivation that must be applied to pursue a “mentally tough” mindset in the game. This is a focus that I’ve been able to apply to various aspects of my life. The best part of being a student-athlete is that I am continuously learning about life morals and values both on and off the court. These are life lessons I will carry throughout my career in college and for the rest of my life.
